December 13th, 2007: Book a trip to fly to Rwanda that next April, in hopes of learning more about the country.
December 15th, 2007: Learn that there is a possibility that we may need to have our paperwork ready to take with us for our trip unless we want to take an extra trip out, which seems like a waste when we are going anyway.

Daniel Irakoze - 1 week old, was brought by Byumba police and hospital (Northern province). Daniel was abandoned when he was two days old. He had been in the hospital since he was found. He still needs medical attention, but we believe that he will be fine.
December 19th, 2007: Learn all the dossier requirements for adoption in Rwanda.
December 20th, 2007: Contact Chantal to begin to feel out the idea of adopting from New Hope Homes.
January 8th, 2008: Send in home study application.
January 9th, 2008: Chantal tells us that there is a infant boy at New Hope Homes available for adoption. We begin praying for him but not thinking to seriously about it.
January 25th, 2008: Have our home study.
February 22nd, 2008: We file our I-600A
April 16th, 2008: Receive our 171-H and send dossier to Rwandan Embassy in DC to receive their approval and cover letter.

April 26th, 2008: Arrive in Rwanda.
April 29th, 2008: Hand all of our paperwork into the office of the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion. We also visit New Hope Homes and stand in the same room as our son without even knowing it. (In truth, it kind of haunts me that we never met him or held him or took a picture of him while we were there.)
August 5th, 2008: Receive unofficial word that our paperwork has been approved!
August 8th, 2008: Talk to Chantal on the phone and she tells us that we can adopt Daniel Irakoze, I rush to my computer and look at pictures of MY SON for the first time!!
August 20th, 2008: Our non-objection (approval) letter finally comes in the mail and we immediately send it back to Rwanda so that our friend, Kiki, who will be doing all our legwork can start the process of actually adopting Daniel.
September 8th, 2008: Act of Adoption is completed.

September 26th, 2008: Court ruling comes down and our adoption of Daniel is COMPLETE and LEGAL.
October 16th, 2008: We purchase tickets for me and a friend to fly to Rwanda!
October 22nd, 2008: I get on a plane and travel to my son!!
October 24th, 2008: I arrive in Rwanda and am handed my son.
October 28th, 2008: I finally am able to get the travel needed to get Daniel's passport and leave Rwanda.
October 29th, 2008: Pick up passport and paperwork from US Embassy and head for Ethiopia.
November 3rd, 2008: Complete Daniel's visa so we can head home!!
November 5th, 2008: GET HOME and are finally a family of SIX!!!!!!
May 8th, 2009: Apply for Daniel's official name change and a Kansas birth certificate.
May 12th, 2009: Receive notification of application accepted...our boy is officially Nathan Irakoze Dummermuth!!!
